Emir Birol teaches piano at the Shine School of Music in Barcelona. Born and raised in Istanbul, he began learning piano seven years ago. He graduated with a degree in Mining Engineering from Istanbul Polytechnic University.
After completing his studies, he chose to pursue a professional career in music, specializing in jazz.
In 2018, he began his advanced musical training, studying with Levant Kalan (TR) (2019–2020), Güç Başar Gülle (TR) (2020–2021), and Ignasi Terraza (ESP) through continuing education at ESMUC (Catalan School of Music). He later continued his studies at the Taller de Músics in Barcelona, where he trained for four years (2021–2025). During this period, he participated in Sant Lluc Sessions (2022–2025), Cat Bar Sessions, and performed concerts at Club Kiff, focusing on jazz standards in solo piano format.
He has worked at Teatre Xixa creating live music and has also collaborated with Teatre Expropiat.
Driven by a strong interest in jazz, he began composing his own music. With these works, he performed solo concerts under his musical project “Wrecked One” at Club Kiff.
In addition to his solo work, he has performed as pianist and keyboardist for the band Pooley, accompanying them in various concerts. He has also been involved in the Joan Zenit Proyecto Dúo project.
He is currently developing Circle Jazz Band, aiming to broaden his artistic reach and perform more concerts in Barcelona.
