Aldo Aranda

Aldo Aranda teaches drums at the Shine School of Music. He specializes in Latin American and African percussion and gives lessons in the Cajon drum.

Aldo is a multifaceted percussionist virtuoso, he possesses an outstanding technical ability in marimba, and was described as “The wonderful Mexican percussionist” by the renowned artist and director Jan Fabre.

His presentations bring percussion to a new level of expression, fusing diverse techniques and disciplines such as contemporary musical theater, improvisation, dance and technology, revolutionizing the concept of performance and interpretation.

He was awarded honorable mentions in the 1st and 2nd Contest and International Festival of marimba players in the state of Chiapas, Mexico in both the 1999 and 2001 editions.

Aranda holds a Master’s degree at the Royal Flamenco Conservatory of Antwerp, Belgium and later at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, Holland.

With an exciting and versatile trajectory currently based between Holland and Barcelona, ​​he has worked with renowned directors, composers, theater companies and orchestras, among them Placido Domingo, Neeme Jarvi, Louis Andriessen, Heiner Gobbels, Jan Fabre / Troubleyn Company, Asko-Schoenberg Ensemble, Symphonic Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato, Orchestra of the Opera de Bellas Artes (Mexico), Noord Netherlands Orchestra (Holland), and DeFilarmonie (Belgium).

He has performed at the most prestigious festivals around the world such as the Avignon Festival (FRA), Edinburgh Festival (ESC), Wiener Festwochen (AUS), Gaudeamus music week (HOL) Cervantino International Festival (MEX), Aarhus festuge, (DIN ), to name a few.

He conducts talks and workshops in the United States, Mexico, and Europe and has currently been named Artistic Director of the Modern Troubadours Company where they create shows combining theater-music, narrated stories, dance and technology.

Currently he is giving percussion lessons at Shine Music School in Barcelona.
